Royal Scarabs, Scaraboids and Plaques from international collections in chronological order

Ptahhotep.jpg
This rectangular plaque depicts a ram-headed sphinx with the goddess Maat between the forelegs. The inscription reads Amun-Re. The reverse side depicts a baboon. The inscription in the panel reads Ptahhotep. Below the sign 'kd' (to build) -Gardiner 35- is depicted. Therefore the translation probably is: Ptahotep builder. (ex Artemission)
SeHetepAbRa (2).JPG
This Middle Kingdom (13th Dyn.) scarab depicts a royal name: Se Hetep Ab Ra, the throne name of king Amenemhet I. His name here was used by a private person who served as a scribe, overseer and seal-bearer. (ex Barry&Darling)
